The UTPB women’s cross country team began their season this weekend by hosting the UTPB Invitational on campus in Odessa , TX . The Lady Falcons, who tallied a total of 51 points, finished second to only El Paso Community College. El Paso Community College , who grabbed seven of the top eight spots in the 6k race, cruised to a first place finish with only 15 points.
Individually, the Lady Falcons’ Ariel Renteria led the team with a tenth place finish overall with a time of 25:03.94. Fellow teammates Monica Tavarez (27:00.93) and Ashley Carrasco (27:51.64) were the next two finishers for the Lady Falcons.
First year head cross country coach Josh Caudill was pleased with the Lady Falcons. “As a team, I think that the ladies hard work over the past three weeks showed today,” he stated. “I believe we are just scratching the surface as a group and I am excited to see what the future holds for our team.”
